Problematic

Working in AutoCAD, many copied from project to project standard nodes and solutions, while saving a lot of time. But, working in Revit, each designer is faced with a problem - views in Revit are nothing more than 3D in horizontal projection with a very small clipping range. That is, if there is something in the model, it is displayed in the view.

The first, seemingly most obvious way out is to create reinforcement in the model, and then add a section of the plan with cuts.

Unfortunately, there are significant disadvantages:

  1. Complex graphics settings for a fragment of a node (many filters, hidden categories and annotations)
  2. The display of the reinforcement does not correspond to the simplified and conditional display of the node elements adopted at the construction site.
Example: it is accepted that two overlapping bars are shown side by side, in Revit they are shown one above the other, which complicates the reading of the drawing.
  3. If the member is not physically present in the model, it is not present in the view either.
Example: since the reinforcement cages are the same, it is possible not to build them, just write in the first information about the total number in the wall. With this approach, wireframes are not physically present, but they are displayed in the specifications.
  4. The node is the same, but the thickness of the walls and the lengths of the bar segments are different. Usually, in this case, all sizes are put with a conventional symbol, and various values are entered into the table.

Solution

We recommend creating a separate file with a library of typical nodes created on the basis of 2D families.

In fact, these are all the same AutoCAD nodes, only in Revit. And 2D families are nothing more than parameterized blocks.

This will allow you to transfer typical nodes from project to project and not be tied to capricious and long-customizable Revit views. The physical reinforcement in the project performed well in the BOM area, but poorly in the knot area.
